We have put passion and sheer hard work into creating and producing this cheese and this makes it all worthwhile. In addition we have just found out that we are a finalist in the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise so it is an exciting time for the business right now
Wummle is now being stocked by delicatessens, speciality food shops, restaurants and hotels all over Aberdeenshire and as far afield as Orkney, Edinburgh and England. The cheese is a soft, mould-ripened variety similar to a Camembert and is made from unpasteurised, organic milk from Aberdeenshire. The name is a Doric word meaning `to turn which is what cheesemakers do as they ripen this type of cheese. Wummle comes in two sizes Muckle Wummle and Wee Wummle.
From its small Creamery in Torphins, the Craigmyle Cheese Company also produces two other cheeses; Clachnaben which is a mild crumbly and Morven which is a Bel Paese texture. | | |
