TV tasting debut for Deeside cheese company

The award winning organic Wummle cheese handmade by The Craigmyle Cheese Company of Torphins will be sampled live on national television by a leading food and wine writer, Sarah Jane Evans, this Monday 11th September at 12.30pm.

UKTV’s Great Food Live show will be showcasing Scottish produce during the programme as part of Scottish Food Fortnight which runs from 1st to the 17th September. Wummle cheese has been selected specifically because of the awards it has won since its introduction this year which include a gold medal at the Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards, two gold medals at The Grampian Food Forum, a silver medal at The Royal Highland Show and a `Commended’ at the International Nantwich Cheese Festival.

Liz Marchant who runs the business with her husband Neil commented: “We are very excited, if a little nervous, about having our cheese sampled on national television. It’s a bit of a daunting prospect and I now know how restaurateurs feel when Joanna Blythman or similar come to visit! Having said that, Wummle is an extremely popular cheese – the awards show how well received it has been and we are constantly getting messages via our website to say how much people enjoy it. I think we will all stop work on Monday and have lunch by the telly!”

Presented by the flamboyant Jeni Barnett, Monday’s guest Sarah Jane Evans will be joined by young, Scottish chef and food lecturer, Eadie Manson and regular chef/co-presenter Mike Robinson. The hour long show will be repeated at 6pm on Monday.
