The History The milk that made their cheese was unique and came from local organic farms that very much focus on the wellbeing of their herds. One such source is the Newton Dee Dairy at Bieldside, part of a Camphill Community where the dairyman, Gideon Cowen ensures the small herd of Ayrshire cows enjoy a stress free, comfortable environment. The other was Glasgoforest, an organic farm at Kinellar run by Anne Willis and her son William, Scottish winners of the national grassland management competition 2005. Unfortunately due to the harsh economic conditions which farmers and producers are currently facing with large supermarkets forcing prices and quality down, the Craigmyle Cheese Company were unable to continue trading, which of course is yet another loss for artisan producers. Eating fine food like quality cheese will make you live longer and happier. Now you can order charcuterie, chipolatas or merguez online and enjoy specialty meats made the traditional way by French artisans. Gourmet food is always based on fresh products with great provenance. |
